The Hillsboro Police Department released the footage from Officer Chris Taaca’s body-worn camera in response to a public records request from The Oregonian/Oregonian. Taaca was among the officers who responded to an incident in January involving a 69-year-old man who shot up his neighborhood before being shot by police. According to police reports, Stanley Hayes had experienced hallucinations in the days leading up to the fatal encounter and was under the influence of methamphetamine at the time he was killed. The city charged the news organization $165 for the public record. The police agency redacted the faces of officers who appear on screen.
